Abstract

Background :

The development of cColorectal cancer (CRC) is a multifactorial and multistep process in which abnormal gene expression may play an important role. Long non-coding RNAsLncRNAs (LncRNAslong non-coding RNAs) are defined as RNAs whose transcripts are longer than 200 nucleotides and are not translated into protein. LncRNAs (long non-coding RNAs) play critical roles in a variety of cellular processes, including development, cell growth, and carcinogenesis by modulating gene expression at the levels of chromatin remodeling, transcription, and post-transcription. This review aimed to investigate the role of LncRNAs in colorectal cancerCRC.

Materials and Methods:

Data were obtained by searching keywords including LncRNA and colorectal cancer in various databases such as for keywords such as LncRNA and CRC across various databases, including Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science.

Results:

Numerous studies have shown the aberrant expression of LncRNAs in colorectal cancer (CCRC) through various modes of action, such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle, DNA repair response, drug resistance, migration, and metastasis. Recently, several studies have proposed long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) as one of the main factors in CRC tumorigenesis; In addition, LncRNA polymorphisms can affect the risk of developing colorectal cancer (CRC). LncRNAs may act as oncogenes in cancer development and progression.

Conclusion:

LncRNAs play an important role in tumor pathology and may be used as diagnostic and therapeutic targets; LncRNAs can play an important role inimportant roles in tumor pathology and may serve as diagnostic and therapeutic targets. They can also contribute to tumorigenesis and growth. Most of the known lncRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II (RNA P II), similar toknown lncRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II (RNA P II), as are mRNAs.
